Notice of collection and California rights concerning personal information
In connection with certain research or survey activities, Vanguard may collect and process information concerning your demographic characteristics such as race and ethnicity in addition to the other categories of personal information described in our Privacy Notice for California residents. We collect this information in order to ensure adequate representation in our research activities and to gauge interest and responsiveness to potential or current offerings by Vanguard. This information will be provided voluntarily by you. Unless otherwise specified within this Supplemental Notice, we use and disclose this demographic information in the same manner as other characteristics of protected classifications as described in our Privacy Notice for California Residents. Vanguard does not sell or share this information, as defined under California law.
California law may, in certain instances, grant you the right to limit Vanguard's use and disclosures of sensitive personal information, including information about your demographic characteristics. California notice of financial incentive
Some of our research and survey activities provide benefits such as gift cards to those who participate. We provide these benefits in appreciation for your participation in these activities. The nature of the personal information we collect in connection with our research and survey activities varies, but generally includes identifiers, personal records, characteristics of protected classifications, commercial information, audiovisual information, professional or employment-related information, financial information, or demographic information.
Any difference in benefits provided to those who choose to participate in our research and survey activities is reasonably related to the value of the personal information provided. The amount of the incentive and value of the personal information provided during a research or survey activity may vary; however, we generally estimate in good faith that the value of the personal information is reasonably equivalent to the value of the incentive provided. You consent to any financial incentive associated with a research or survey activity when you sign up. You have the right to withdraw from the financial incentive at any time by cancelling your participation in the research or survey. For the full terms and conditions applicable to a research or survey activity and details on how to cancel your participation, please see the applicable terms provided in connection with the research activity.
