When can I use the money from my bank to place trades?

1 minute read

Funds transferred from your bank via electronic bank transfer may be immediately used to buy Vanguard mutual funds. However, redemption proceeds may not be available for you to withdraw for up to seven calendar days.

There is a seven calendar day hold until the funds can be used to buy brokerage securities (like stocks, ETFs, or another company’s mutual funds).

Until your shares are available, you will see a yellow banner on your Balances and holdings page indicating that you have unavailable shares.

If you would like your funds to be available to purchase brokerage securities immediately upon deposit, consider sending Vanguard a check or a bank transfer via wire.
