Why did I receive a security code on my phone when I didn't try to log in?

Your security is extremely important to us. Vanguard will never call to ask for your security code. Please don't share your security code.

Random security codes are often the result of third party software. These codes can be generated when you're not trying to log in to Vanguard.

If you use an aggregation tool to view your Vanguard accounts or have configured an aggregation tool to access your accounts on your behalf, you may get a security code from Vanguard sent via text message to the phone number that you selected. Most often these occur during the overnight hours.

Please be aware that texting "STOP" will not disable this service. If you would like to disable the security code feature, click here and select "Disable."
