Trust services

Vanguard can help simplify the responsibilities of administering and investing assets within a trust.

What we can do for you

Managing a trust can be complex and time-consuming. Whether you already have a trust or are in the process of setting one up, it's important to select the right trustee to oversee it. Since a trust can last for many years, your trustee needs to have the expertise, time, and dedication—as well as your complete confidence—to carry out the long-term obligations of the role.

Vanguard established Vanguard National Trust Company (VNTC) to provide trust administration and investment management services customized to meet your needs, as well as those of your family and other beneficiaries.

Trusts allow your assets to pass to your loved ones after your death without going through probate. Vanguard established VNTC to provide trust administration and investment management services customized to meet your needs, as well as those of your family and other beneficiaries. Our service, financial expertise, and investment philosophy—combined with our reasonable fees and Vanguard's low-cost funds—adds up to an exceptional value for your trust.

Since a trust can last for many years, knowing that your trustee has the knowledge and dedication to conduct the long-term obligations of the role is vital to you and your family. VNTC has a proven history of advocacy for our clients and a compelling reputation as a trusted, candid partner. Our fees are among the lowest in the industry—and our trust professionals don't work on commission, so you know they're only focusing on your and your family’s needs.

A trust must have at least $1 million in assets to qualify for trust services. The governing trust document must be valid under the laws of the 50 United States. You must also accept certain trust administrative provisions for your trust that include, for example, a provision that grants VNTC sole investment discretion over the trust assets.

If you would like us to serve as your successor trustee, you can name VNTC in your trust or other estate planning documents. Note that naming VNTC as a future trustee does not guarantee acceptance. The trust will be reviewed at the time VNTC starts serving as trustee to determine if the trust aligns with VNTC's policies and procedures.
